Mine Safety Fact:  Since 1984, five operators of machine mounted rock drills have been killed as a result of entanglement in rotating drill steel. In addition to rotating machinery, other drilling hazards include rig stability, manual handling and lifting, stored energy, water, lightning, falling, ground and respirable dusts and aerosols.
