Mine Safety Fact: According to MSHA, a review of more than 200 fatal accidents in the mining industry over a three-year period showed that in more than 25 percent of those cases, the failure to use personal protective equipment contributed to the fatality. MSHA requires that suitable ppe be worn in mines, including, where applicable, protective footwear, protective clothing, face shields and goggles, life jackets, protective gloves and hard hats.
